ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“Not quite right.” These are the words most commonly used by family and friends to describe Christopher Hoskins.

At an early age, Chris was overheard saying, “I love the feel of cold steel in my hands.” Fearing his only grandson would grow up to be a hitman, Ed Hanlon (aka Grandpa) quickly intervened. On the morning of his 6th birthday, Chris received his first set of golf clubs.

As the years passed, Chris entered the world of amateur competition. Modest success pointed him in the direction of the PGA Tour. Fate, however, dealt a cruel blow as injuries plagued his short-lived career. From 1977 to 1993, Chris made 14 visits to the emergency room with ailments ranging from severed fingers to a fractured neck. Mind you, golf is not a violent sport. Chris was just a klutz. Except for a severe blow to the head from a stray golf ball, a fractured ankle from a student’s downswing, a broken wrist from hitting balls at the driving range, and being knocked unconscious from an ill-fated meeting with a cart path, Chris never had a problem on the course. He was just, well … lucky.

Today, Chris lives in Orange County, California. He is currently working on a technical definition for the term “Johnson,” while his wife conducts research through back issues of National Geographic.
